Standard load – Heavy. 20 cartridges of 45-70 Government. Suitable for 1873 Springfield Trapdoor rifles.
405-grain round nose, flat point, total copper coating
These bullets are designed for medium to large-sized buffalo. Great hunting round and fun for target shooting. They’ve been designed for a Trapdoor rifle, so that is the lowest pressure of the 45-70 Government rifles. As such, you can shoot these in any 45-70 Gov firearm (Trapdoor, Lever, or Modern). While lower pressure, the lead-core bullets allow them to reach a speed of over 1,600 feet per second. With a 405-grain bullet, that results in 2,313 ft/lbs of energy.
The bullet is a 405-grain copper-coated lead bullet. The copper coating is extra thick with no speed restrictions. Note this cartridge cannot be used with Cowboy Action Shooting due to its plating. If you are looking for cartridges for CASS (Cowboy Action Shooting), consider the 45-70 Gov’t Lead load.
Average velocity is 1,600 ft/s with a standard deviation of 37 ft/s
Testing was done with an 1873 Springfield trapdoor rifle.
