Description

Full power load – Heavy.  20 cartridges of 45-70 Government.  Suitable for Lever rifles or modern bolt rifles.  CANNOT BE USED WITH 1873 Springfield Trapdoor rifles.

405-grain round nose, flat point, total copper coating

These bullets are designed for medium to large-sized buffalo.  Great hunting round and fun for target shooting.  They are the medium power cartridges for the 45-70, meaning they should not be fired in  Trapdoor rifles.  As such, you can only shoot these in Lever or Modern).  These higher-pressure cartridges allow them to reach a speed of over 1,800 feet per second.  With a 405 grain bullet, that results in 3100+ ft/lbs of energy.

The bullet is a 405-grain copper-coated lead bullet.  The copper coating is extra thick with no speed restrictions.  Note this cartridge cannot be used with Cowboy Action Shooting due to its plating.  If you are looking for cartridges for CASS (Cowboy Action Shooting), consider the 45-70 Gov’t Lead load.

Average velocity is 1,850 ft/s with a standard deviation of 28 ft/s

Testing was done with a CVA Scout V2 25″ rifle.

Is it safe?
